Purchased as a weekend getaway, this Mid-Century home is only an hour’s drive outside of New York City. Situated on five bucolic acres along the Delaware River, the floor plan and landscape are what drew the clients to the home. Original interior details left the home looking dated so the goal was to retain the Mid-Century charm while creating warm and fresh interiors. In the Great Room cedar tongue-and-groove panels were added to the ceiling to warm up the space while the battens were ebonized to match the newly refinished floors. Heavy paneling was removed from the walls and around structural steel to lighten the space. Contemporary and vintage furniture was purchased with comfort and entertaining in mind. Pieces by local designers and artists work to round out the design and truly turn this weekend getaway into a home.
